June was full of adventures for our family.
Cameron went to Boy Scout camp (June 5-10) with his troop and another local troop. He finished a few merit badges but wasn’t a fan of swimming in the cold lake. He designed an amazing Lego dragon head.
While Cam was at Scout camp, Kimball was at FSY (For Strength of Youth) (June 6-10). It’s a new church camp held at local colleges for ages 14-18. Our ward went to Denton, TX. Most of the youth had a hard time at first, but they all came home saying it was amazing (or something to that extent).
While both boys were gone, Judy was watching the Ferrell’s 3 kids. They had a great time hanging out with Lily and Becca and did really well. The 5 kids went to VBS (Vacation Bible School) at a local church in the evenings and loved it. There was music, crafts, and lots of fun. We went to crafts at the library, swim in movies and lots of hanging out at home. Katie and Justin were in South Carolina. When they got back to Texas, they picked up Kimball from FSY and brought him up to us. Judy picked up Cam Friday night and we were all together for one night.
The next day (June 11), Kimball left for ZBase scout camp with the older scouts in his troop. They walked several miles each day and got to try activities such as: zip lines, rope courses, ATV’s, water skis, kayaking and more. He came home tired and ready to do nothing.
Unfortunately, on June 15, Dale and Judy came down with Covid! We had avoided it for over 2 years and the Omicron variant finally got us. We had to cancel the rest of Cameron’s art camp and Lily’s ranch camp because we all went in to quarantine. We were both exhausted, had coughs and felt miserable for a few days. The fatigue lasted for a couple weeks (especially for Dale who was hit harder). Cameron was amazing and made sure his sisters ate and were taken care of while we quarantined in our room with hopes of not spreading it to the kids. Kimball got home that Saturday and also had to go into quarantine with us. Cameron tested positive on Sunday the 19th so the kids had to quarantine even longer, but thankfully no one else got sick.
The Ferrells came back up to visit the weekend of the 24th and spent a few days with us.
Becca had a check up at OU children’s for her hemangioma on her lip. We decided to wait longer and hope it goes away. While we were in OKC, we went to the Science Museum for the first time since we moved to Oklahoma. The kids loved it and we didn’t see nearly all of it.
We also celebrated our 16th anniversary!
Other happenings in June:
-We fostered a chihuahua puppy named Poppy. She was our first female dog and the girls were in heaven! Poppy loved to cuddle and the kids loved to tote her everywhere.
-Roe V Wade was overturned. There was a lot of chaos as states adjusted for the ruling and there were any, many people upset on social media.
-Lily had several amazing quips I couldn’t help writing down…
“”I don’t deserve tickling after what I’ve been through” (lots of mosquito bites.
“Mom you’re welcome to come and stay with me when I grow up and live in Australia…and see all my doggies and cats.”
“Squirrels are the ninjas of the forest.”
-Becca wanted to try some of my gum. I told her “you won’t like this kind of gum. It’s minty.” She replied “yeah, that’s why your breath always stinks.”
