August 2021

We booked it home from our reunion trip so that Kimball could start band camp on August 2nd. It was definitely not his favorite experience with many days of marching in the heat.

We went swimming when we could, watched friends’ kids a few times, visited the library, had doctor’s appointments, had school orientations, and our new piano was delivered!

Kimball started 9th grade, Cameron 7th and Lily 2nd.

Becca and I had a couple of weeks before she started pre-k to just enjoy the quiet house. After a year and a half of COVID induced chaos in our home, the house was strangely empty. Becca was thrilled to start pre-k and wasn’t nervous one bit!
We got a new foster pup…Zafar. He was part shar-pei and at 3-4 months was already 40 pounds. He was a ball of energy that loved having something in his mouth at all times. Cameron was especially close to him.

Lily continued to work on her wink. She made the decision to stop doing tumbling after around 2 years.
Cameron competed in the county fair’s Kids Ninja Warrior contest and won first in his age division.
Kimball also started early morning seminary. He gets to the church at 6:00 for an hour of church education. Then he heads to the high school for marching band. Once that’s done, all the 9th graders get bussed to the junior high. The rest of his day is there. Then he busses home. On Tuesdays he has evening rehearsal for band. He also had a mishap swimming and scraped off a big amount of his nose/upper lip on the bottom of the pool.

Funny quotes of the month:
Becca: "anyone with a red car I want to have a play date with."
Cameron: (after finding out there weren't very many Star Wars Legos at the store "Lego must be having a hot flash right now." He also loves playing "Would You Rather?" with us, asking the most absurd questions.
Kimball: "I would prefer it if Adam and Eve weren't embarrassed and the world was a nude colony."
Lily: "I have a bigger brain so I remember more than [Becca]!"
