After not being to Utah for a few years, it was finally time to head that way for our Rex reunion. We stopped in NM for a few days to pick up the boys and spend time with my family. The drive there was very quiet since it was Dale, the girls and me.
We got to take Cameron to the temple (and Kimball) to do baptisms for the dead. It was his first time and it was such a neat experience. He could not wait to go back again.
I got to see my friend Christina and her cute kids. We went to a Pioneer Day activity with my family.
That Sunday we drove up to Utah to meet Dale’s family near Parowan. We stopped at Four Corners and waited in line for ages to take our picture, but now everyone’s been there.
We stopped at the Glen Canyon Dam. Becca hated it, the boys were indifferent, and Dale took every chance he had to tell dam jokes.
We had to drive the back way through the mountains to get to the cabin. It had rained most of that day and the day before so the roads were slick and muddy. I was driving at one point and got stuck part way up a hill. Dale took over, then the van spun around and slid all the way back down. Cameron was not impressed with our driving. We made it up the mountain finally and got to the cabin.
It was a beautiful few days at the cabin. The boys had tons of fun with cousins, and the girls got to do crafts.
On Monday, some of the group went on a brutal hike bushwacking their way up the mountain. Dale took the boys and they came back scratched, bruised and exhausted.
We played volleyball, went on a smaller hike, Dale’s brother showed up as Parley P Pratt, and a late night dance party broke Becca out of her shell. She danced until I dragged her to bed, and loved all of her older cousins after that.
Before we knew it it was time to leave. We drove up to my brother Nate’s house in Layton and stayed there two nights. Cameron loved seeing all of Nate’s legos. The girls loved playing with cousins Bree and Eleanor. I got to meet my niece Anne for the first time. We also took our kids to DI and they fell in love with the thrift store.I met up with my friend Lindsay and her kids at a park and caught up for the first time in many, many years.
On Friday morning we drove up to Randolph, UT where we stopped by Dale’s mom’s grave.
Then we drove up to the Rex property for the RRR reunion (Dale’s aunts, uncles and cousins). The girls loved the swing set, Kimball hung out with cousins, and Cameron explored.
Saturday morning after breakfast, we started our drive down to NM. We drove over 12 hours that day but finally made it to my parent’s house after midnight.
We went to Sacrament meeting with my parents then went back to their house to pick up Shadow and load up. Robert watched Shadow for us while we were in UT, and Shadow loved it!
