Bundys for spring break

My parents and brother decided to come out for my Dad's spring break. Kimball said that one benefit of Covid is that after over a year of not seeing them, suddenly we've seen them 3 times in 3 months (Albuquerque, Oklahoma and now).

They pulled in on March 20th. Becca was eagerly anticipating Grandpa bringing his stories to read to her, and Rob bringing his Snoopys to play with. She wanted very little to do with Grandpa when we visited in December, but she's much happier to see him now that they've bonded. She was sure to remind me that Grandpa is her birthday buddy.

Becca asked Grandpa to play dragons with her one morning. Before I knew it, there was a poor unicorn lying lifelessly on my kitchen table being devoured by dragons!

We went on a Sunday walk at the park. It was all well and good until Lily pushed the stroller up a hill and climbed in without putting the breaks on. Before I knew it she was careening towards the lake and went right in. Thankfully the lake wasn't very deep there, but she was traumatized, all of our stuff was in the nasty murky lake, and there are snakes in there! Rob went right in and fished everything out while I comforted Lily and Grandma went to get the van on the other side of the lake. I swear I can still smell the lake on our clothes after several washes! Thankfully no one was hurt and nothing was damaged or lost.

Becca also loved having Grandma read her stories and would show up with a stack full of books for Grandma to read.

Kimball kept Grandpa busy with constant questions about Star Wars or tanks. Cameron mostly talked WWII with him.

Grandpa loved the puppies! On the 22nd, Radar (the darker puppy) suddenly couldn't walk. His back legs were totally lame and we were asked to take him to the vet in Seminole (35 minutes away). Dad drove me there so I wouldn't have to drive alone (I would've sobbed the whole way!). I loved having that one-on-one time with him to talk. I thought Radar was going to have to be put down, but we got word we could pick him up that Thursday.

On Friday it was Grandma's birthday. We had lunch from Applebees and grilled shish-ka-bobs on the grill that Dale's partner kindly gifted us when he got a new one. They were delicious! I made a Rolo cheesecake and the kids all loved on her.

The next day I took Mom out for some photography lessons. We took pictures at the park and Dale's office before shopping a bit.

Sunday came too soon and it was time to say goodbye. They gave Cameron a birthday hug and hit the road. Thanks for coming Grandma, Grandpa and Rob!
