| In front of our cabin |
We stayed at a cabin in Dallas NE Campground. Our cabin was literally right on the lake and it was so nice to get away from Corona Virus life (to some degree) and just let our kids be kids.
Lily and Cameron loved playing with Natalie, and Becca was constantly with Libby. Kimball found a couple of older kids at the campground to hang out with. When the kids were asleep each night, we played games and talked...both of which used to be infinitely easier before kids :D.
Thankfully the weather was pretty cooperative and only rained on Sunday. We cooked lots, ate lots, swam some, fished with no luck and just enjoyed being together.
Dale went back to working at the office on May 11th after working from home since spring break. They have to wear masks whenever they interact with someone and clients are supposed to phone in instead of having in-person consultations.
The boys had one scout outing in May, fishing at Wintersmith. Kimball caught a couple of fish, but Cameron didn't and was super frustrated. One day he'll catch a big fish!
We finished up "school". Kimball got his grades back and did really well. Cameron's school decided to just give each kid a pass or fail so all of his work at home didn't do anything for his grades. That was frustrating to say the least. Each of the kids got to pick up their school supplies. The boys had to wear masks and have their temperature checked to enter the building...for the first time since March 12th. Lily just had to pull up in the van and they brought her supplies to her.
Lily graduated Kindergarten and is super excited to start 1st grade...who knows what 1st grade will look like in August?
We celebrated Mother's Day...
Made churros for Cinco de Mayo...
We finished the living room wall...mudding, taping, texturing, painting, putting the trim/beams back up. Thank goodness it's done!
We live in constant peril because Becca loves to run in the room we're in and scream "3 2 1 the ground in lava!" and we have to scurry to whatever surface has been deemed safe from lava. Becca loves to sneak out of bed and fall asleep behind the couch where it's almost impossible for us to reach her.
Cameron has been doing challenges to earn movie nights. One day we had him pull all of the helicopter seed pods out of the grates over our gutters. We thought it would take several days but he got it done in one!
It was once again a month of mostly staying at home. The quarantine restrictions gradually lightened but the kids still haven't really been anywhere. This is the new "normal" until we get a vaccine. Yippee...
