August 2018

Whew! Between recovering from illness, school starting, and the fair, the rest of August seemed pretty peaceful...

Dale had his trip to Muskogee. While playing basketball with other ward members, he hurt his thumb and has been in a brace ever since.
Judy got all the kids enrolled in school, got back into the schedule of school, and now spends most of her days entertaining Becca before the after-school chaos happens.
Kimball had a piano recital, joined a new Boy Scout troop, and painted a ceiling tile for one of his teachers at school. He is very responsible about getting up at 6:00 to get ready for school. He is in an accelerated math class, and started playing the trumpet in the school band.
Cameron spent his summer forming a club with some of the kids from church. He's constantly making plans for the club and insists we have to buy a clubhouse now. He's convinced we need more kids (at least 2). At one point he found a frog and took care of it until it escaped from the pool. Some days at school, he's chosen to stay in during recess to get homework done, and is doing so well getting ready for school in the mornings.
Lily is still in love with school. She's most cooperative about bedtime if we remind her that school is in the morning. She had to get some shots for school, and while I was expecting a fight, as soon as she learned they were required for school, she said "all right, I'll get my shots." The third week into school, she got a fever and had to miss 3 days of school. It was torture for her and she was so excited to go back. I've been working with her on her L sounds, and she can finally say her name "Lily" instead of "ih-eee". Also, she's finally tall enough to reach most of the light switches, so we don't have to always turn lights on for her!
Becca has adjusted well to being an only child during school days. She just don't like waking up so early to her siblings. When she gets hurt, often times she'll just shut down and lie on the floor (Lily saw her do this at church once and said "hee hee, Becca's dead!"). Becca hates seeing others getting hurt or threatened and will cry out for them. She started blowing kisses, says her name (Bebba), and has started to be picky about which clothes she wears...at 18 months! She started nursery at church. The first day she screamed for 20 minutes straight and the nursery leaders brought her out to us. The next week, she cried for a few minutes, then slept the rest of the time. Gradually, she's crying less and less and starting to play more.
