I've heard about the Choctaw Free Fair for a few years, so when the opportunity to go with some friends came up, I talked Dale into going. We left Friday afternoon (August 31) and drove to Tuskahoma. We parked and rode a tram in.
The boys wanted to ride a bull first...
Then we went on to ride the ferris wheel, and several other rides...
When our friends arrived (who knew where the camp site was), Dale went over and set up our tent, and we started watching Trace Adkins' concert. Dale made it back just in time for a couple of songs.
After a bit more fun, we headed to the tent and settled in for the night. It was like a tent city, with tents set up everywhere on the lawn. Considering how crowded it was, it was not too loud, thankfully.
The next morning, we ate breakfast and headed over to the kids activities. Kimball said the bunjee jumping was his favorite part!
Lily could not get enough of the kiddie rides! She loved the motorcycles and planes and cars.
Cameron knew that our friends had won a turtle in the past, and he talked about winning a turtle non-stop! It got to the point that having a turtle almost sounded better than taking home Cameron without a turtle. So, I gave the boys $5 to try to win one, and Kimball actually did! Cameron was ecstatic, but only until he decided he wanted to win two turtles (which we did not allow). The boys now have a turtle in their room, to add to the three fish, frog and snail we have in our library.
There was nothing for toddlers, so Becca just hung out in her stroller most of the weekend... thankfully she was a total sport!
By Saturday morning, our phones were dying, so we had to actually plan beforehand what time we would meet up, who had which kid, etc. We were always split up taking different kids to different rides, but everything was free. It got pretty hot and crowded, but the kids loved it. We stayed until 7 for the drawing but didn't win anything, then we drove home to watch the first BYU football game (I fell asleep, but Dale stayed up to watch them fight to victory!).
