Halloween was a hit this year!
Our boys have reached the age where family themed costumes aren't desirable, sadly. Kimball decided he wanted to be the color black for Halloween, and Cameron followed suit. Soon, they were shadows! We had a lot of reactions during trick-or-treating from "how scary" to "I didn't even see you there" to "how cute!"
Lily loves Dr McStuffins, so I knew that a doctor costume would be one she would be willing to wear, and I even found a cute dr kit at a consignment sale. I made her doctor coat out of one of the boys' old Sunday shirts and she loves it! Plus, she's the cutest doctor ever.
Dale and I dressed as Snoopy and Charlie Brown. Dale took his role as grumpy, depressed, and "wo is me" very seriously.
We went to our ward trunk-or-treat on Saturday where Kimball got to help with the games as a cub scout, and Lily started to get the hang of saying "trick-or-treat" in exchange for candy. Then, Halloween was on a Monday. When the boys got home, I rushed them through homework, tried to rush them through dinner and into costumes, but we were way behind apparently, because kids started trick-or-treating around 5:00. By the time we got out the door it was almost dark.
By the way, having your kids dressed as shadows, in the dark, is slightly stressful (at least for me...). Our old neighborhood rarely had kids trick-or-treat, so it was a big change to literally see masses of children walking down the street and not being able to walk back inside our house in between trick-or-treaters this year. We stayed out too late, had too much sugar, and Lily begged for the entire next day to go trick-or-treating again :).
