We started off December with the kids getting their advent calendars from Great Aunt Ganie.
Our ward had a cookie social before the First Presidency Christmas devotional, and when we got home, we discovered a hedgehog in our backyard.
Kimball marched in the Ada Christmas parade with the band, and Cameron rode on the Boy Scout float which Kimball helped design. The girls were thrilled to watch the parade pass by.
Kimball refuses to let me cut his hair and said “I want my hair to be my beanie”. One day he said “too bad the tall genes skipped 3 generations. Are those rhetoric genes?” (Meaning recessive). He was called to be the Teachers quorum president at church. He also said “Napoleon was cool. He even had ice cream named after him” to which his Aunt Hannah said “Neapolitan is not named after Napoleon!”
Dale and Judy got to enjoy a night out with the Pontotoc County Bar association and even won Thunder tickets that we couldn’t use. I was asked to speak in the leadership meeting of stake conference and centered my entire talk around football.
Cameron had a drama performance which Becca and I got to watch…Becca slept through most of it.
Lily insisted it was time for Dale to take her on a date, so they went to Braum’s. After our trip to Colorado for Christmas, she said “I know what I’m doing when I grow up…moving to Colorado.” She has stopped biting her nails and is so proud of how long they have grown.
Lily had a school program and practiced the songs at home regularly. She even had a speaking part and did fantastic!Dale and Kimball went to the BYU bowl game in Shreveport with the Kings.
While they were gone, Lily and Becca decorated gingerbread houses with the primary, then we made and decorated sugar cookie houses.
We also went to a lovely Christmas program at one of the local churches.
So we didn’t have to take all of our gifts to Colorado, we had a small family gift opening. My sweet friend Christina sent us all gnome ornaments.
Becca loved her school Christmas party and seeing all of the Christmas lights around town. One day she asked “why is my heart beeping?” Another time, in her winter clothes, she exclaimed “I’m so fluffy!” Her fashion is incredible and she’s such a happy girl (most of the time).
My friend group decided to take the kids to Ardmore to ice skate. Lily was so nervous but after a while decided she could do it, and was so excited! She happily exclaimed “I just had to believe!” She said the same happened with doing the monkey bars at school.
We spent Christmas and New Year’s Eve in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and before we knew it, 2022 was here!
