August 2019

Hooray for the end of summer! The kids actually did pretty well getting along until the last few weeks...then everyone was just ready for different company I guess.
There was a ward temple trip, and Dale watched all the kids in the church next door. Then we explored OKC for a little bit. We got the kids enrolled, Kimball had to get his 12 year old shots, we bought lots of school supplies...and went back for more. All of the usual get-ready-for-school stuff!

Dale's dad had a stroke which left him unable to care for himself for over a week, and we were pretty worried he wouldn't recover. Dale got to fly out to Utah at the end of August with Greg and spend some time with his dad. He also started working as an adjunct professor at ECU teaching US Government...don't worry, he's qualified ;). He gave everyone back-to-school blessings and got one from his dad while he was in Utah.
Judy started teaching violin lessons again, and babysitting a little boy a few times a week. She also crafted a lot and started trying to learn to paint and entered several things in the county fair (and even won a few ribbons!). Now that the kids are back in school, it's time for the annual purge of junk from our house!
Kimball finally let me cut his hair! It was long enough to French braid. He had a court of honor for scouts and received 10 merit badges and moved up a few ranks. He's been an amazing help with Becca especially this summer and was always willing to watch his siblings if I had to run a quick errand. He started riding his bike to church solo on Sundays he was ready, and would get there in time to help set up.

Cameron lost another tooth we didn't even know was loose. Whenever he runs the microwave, he races into the next room so he doesn't explode when it beeps. He crossed over from Arrow of Light to Boy Scouts and is now in the same troop as Kimball...though thankfully not in the same patrol.

Lily lost her first tooth! She has been so excited and loves to show anyone her cute little gap. She starts many sentences with "well, unfortunately" whether the news is good or bad. Since she started kindergarten, she has started saying her L sound more consistently and it's so fun to hear her say her name as Lily instead of Ih-ee. We had her start a tumbling class and the first few weeks were torture for everyone because she was too scared to try, but she finally started to try and is excelling! Her coach is so impressed with how well she listens and learns the moves.
Becca answers any questions with "I don't know". One day she told me "I'm not a baby!" When I asked "if you're not a baby, what are you then?" she said "I don't know...a Betta!" She loves playing with the baby boy I'm watching and picking Lily up each day. I think she also enjoys having the house/all the toys to herself.
