June 2018

June was full of all sorts of summer shenanigans...

Dale took Kimball and Cameron fishing with some other families in our ward. Both boys caught some catfish and Kimball got barbed by one. That night we enjoyed a fish fry at our friend's house, and I was surprised that catfish was actually decent to eat.
Judy went to Young Women's camp near Blanchard for 4 days while Dale held down the fort at home. It was the perfect opportunity to get to know the young women better! I got home late on a Thursday (all the kids were in bed) so Friday morning, the kids trickled into my bed one-by-one to cuddle with me. Kimball walked in and said "I'm cuddling with you no matter what!", and when Becca saw me, her grin extended beyond her binky. She kept laying her head on my chest, then sitting up and patting me to make sure I was still there. Dale said if I go next year we're either hiring childcare or he's going on vacation with the kids without me instead of trying to work from home.

I had to go up to OKC for a doctor's appointment, so on the way up, we stopped at Ray Trent Park in Del City, then to the doctor, then to Earlywine Aquatic Center in Moore. The kids loved it! Kimball scraped his nose on the bottom of the pool, but otherwise we had a good time. We also swam a few times at local pools.
Dale got to golf several times and travelled a bit, including to Muskogee. Just before YW camp, his sister Kathy and her daughter Cassidy came out and stayed for a day, so we got to show them a bit of Ada.

Judy signed up to help at Cub Scout Day Camp, and Kimball signed up to be a Boy Scout leader, so the 5 of us spent most of the week in the heat at the Elks Lodge. Judy got to help with tot lot, which involved watching Lily, Becca and one other boy, but thankfully Debra was helping as well. The girls loved being there, and slept amazingly well that week!

Kimball loved helping at scout camp because he still got to do practically everything, and had a bit of authority. One day, he came up to me and said "you know the scripture that says ask and ye shall receive? ...can I have a phone?"

Cameron loved camp more than we could've expected. He sliced his finger during the pocket knife training, but he loved shooting bb guns and archery. He was thrilled to go every day! One Sunday Dale had left early to practice organ, and everyone else was ready early, so I said the boys could ride their bikes to church. I drove behind them with my flashers on, and we were only 3 minutes late to our pew, but it was a bit nerve-wracking. Still, it was fun watching my "future missionaries".
Lily is going through a "scared of monsters" phase and one night asked me to take every butterfly off the wall in her room (there's a ton of vinyl ones) because they must be monsters. She's scared to go anywhere in the house alone and it's tragic! She is finally tall enough to reach most of the light switches if she's on her very tippy-toes.

Suddenly, Becca insists on having her binky upside-down. She started saying "shoes" and "nonono". We realized that because she has hyper-mobility (as do all of our kids, but especially her and Cameron), her loose joints contribute to her clumsiness. She has always been pretty good about going to Dale, but after I went to YW camp, she really bonded with Dale and Kimball. She will often go to Kimball for hugs.
We also got to celebrate Father's Day and our Anniversary in Dallas!
