Fall Break 2017

We have a running list of places we want to visit, and on top of that list for years has been the USS Batfish...a submarine in OK of all places. We've wanted to go several times, but it's always fallen through, so we decided to center our fall break on going to see it...and see it we did!

We also wanted to camp, so we started looking for a campground that met the boys' requirements of: lots of trees and lots of rocks to climb on. Dale called Greg who suggested Robbers Cave and it was perfect. We left on Thursday and drove straight there. The campground we got was far from any bathrooms and close enough to the highway to hear cars all night long, but otherwise it was a very nice campsite.

Friday morning we ate breakfast and then hiked Robbers Cave. It was so much fun...the boys were in heaven. Lily did awesome until we were climbing back down and face-planted.
We happened to be there during the fall carnival that is hosted in the state park so we went to check that out. Kimball used his money from mowing/allowance to buy a $15 toy gun, and Cameron bought a bow/arrow. That night we had another fire, and enjoyed camping. Thankfully it wasn't too cold yet.
The next day we drove out to the USS Batfish. It was amazing. The boys went through the sub multiple times. It's incredible that people actually work on submarines for months at a time in such confined spaces.

After the Batfish, it was time to go home. What a fun little break away from real life :).
