We tried to cancel Cameron's birthday this year because he's growing up way too fast, but he wouldn't let us for some reason, so we had to let him turn 8! He has been so excited to turn 8 because now he can go to Cub Scouts.
For dinner, he chose to go to Burger King. Then we came home for cake, presents and sherbet.
It was so fun watching Cameron's face as he opened presents. Dale found 2 Lego sets that were on super clearance because the boxes had been damaged, so we put them together before-hand to make sure the pieces were all there. Cameron was thrilled that he got to skip the long, arduous assembly process and skip straight to playing :).
For days afterwards, he kept telling me that this was his best birthday ever! We got him a sports bedding set (he's been using my quilt from when I was a teenager), a Pokemon binder, rain boots, and the Lego set. Kimball got him a giant blue ball, and Lily got him a sports theme light switch plate and a Pokemon shirt.
Our neighbors have a granddaughter named Cameron, and she happened to be visiting them on his birthday. He told her over the fence that it was his birthday and she suddenly disappeared inside, only to emerge a few minutes later with a wrapped present for him. It was so fun watching him open it :).
We are so blessed to have Cameron in our family. He loves to tease, is very serious when he is creating anything, and is loyal to his family and friends. His eyes express whatever he is feeling...when he's happy, they sparkle, when he's mad they show the hurt. I'm so grateful for this boy in my life!
