January 2016

We spent the New Year in Albuquerque with Judy's family. The boys had zero trouble staying up late and loved throwing the poppers we got for the occasion. They still don't like sparkling cider, so the adults got more :).

We drove home on the 2nd, and school started back up again on the 4th. During the month we had dentist visits, basketball games, cub scouts (including a camp fire), and all the usual joys of life, such as eating spaghetti.

Kimball had his first pinewood derby and made a Tankermobile. At first it was going to be a Duck (WWII vehicle that can go on land or in water), but he changed his mind. He won 2nd place out of his pack and was very disappointed he didn't win first. He chose the number 18 because 1, 8 and any combination thereof are his favorite numbers currently.
Cameron's school had "Dads and Donuts" but Dale already had a meeting out of town that day that couldn't be rescheduled, so Lily and I got to go. We built bridges out of spaghetti noodles and marshmallows, and got to eat donuts afterwards. The next day, Dale and Cameron got to go on their own Dads and Donuts outing and shared some yummy donuts with the rest of us.

Lily is obsessed with books right now. She asks to read books constantly throughout the day, and will often sit right next to us and insist on having a blanket on her lap.

One morning I went to get the boys up and couldn't find Kimball. He wasn't in the living room or anywhere else, but I eventually found him in Cam's bed. I love these moments...

Cameron had his 100th day of school and dressed as a 100 year old man. He wasn't going to at first, but changed his mind, and he makes a pretty darn cute old man!
Kimball is very intense in basketball and is working so hard to improve. He can now make several baskets, and gets very competitive. Cameron made his first basket at practice recently and is still at the age where he just has fun and gets easily distracted during practice and games :).
Lily had her 18 month appointment and finally weighs 20 pounds! She is still so little, but we can tell she's had a growth spurt. She has learned how to smile for the camera which makes all her pictures adorable. Her vocabulary is ever expanding with: doggie, woof, shoes, teeth, cheese, keys, mom. She got a baby doll for Christmas and insists on taking it everywhere. Her favorite pastime is still dumping as many books out of the book shelf and possible, then sitting on her pile of books to read a few. She loves her fleece jacket and will rarely go without it, and she loves getting all dressed up with as many jackets as possible and several bows in her hair. This is such a fun, exhausting age :).
