Lily is 6 months!

Lily-Loo, I keep telling you to stop growing (so does Daddy), but you just won't listen! My heart feels like it is simultaneously bursting with pride while breaking into little pieces watching my baby grow up so fast. Though, apparently you didn't actually grow height-wise since you were 4 months old, because you measured at 24.5 inches again (10th percentile now). The doctor thinks you were measured wrong last time because they triple checked your height this time. I think you got my height genes...sorry for that :).

You did gain some weight though...15 lb 8 oz (50th percentile). Though you started out as our biggest baby, you are now our smallest baby at 6 months old.

Since last month, you have:
  • Discovered the "guh" sound (12/18)
  • Started sitting up without support (12/24). When you fall over, you just let your head do the work and we usually hear a little thud. Then you roll to wherever you need to go.
  • You learned to lift your arms up when you want to be picked up (12/24)
  • You started being the wiggliest nurser ever. Now, when you nurse, you are rocking your body back and forth, or hitting your own head, or grabbing on to whatever is closest. You still like to hold my finger when you nurse too.
  • The "gah" sound joined your repertoire.
  • Until recently, you refused to look at whoever was holding you. We can only think that you trusted that person enough to direct your focus everywhere else. But, now, you do tend to look up every once in a while at the face of the person holding you.
  • We celebrated your first Christmas. As we expected, you were more interested in the wrapping paper and twinkling lights than any presents.
  • For New Years, we went to New Mexico where you got to meet your Uncles Nathan and John, and Aunt Hannah.
  • For the past month, you had a terrible cough. A lot of people were worried because it sounded like croup, and you had the hardest time sleeping (sometimes waking up every hour with a coughing fit) and eating. Despite that, you were just content to be held most of the time. Once you were better, you were finally smiling and laughing again.
  • You are such a good sleeper now that you feel better. When it's nap or bedtime, I just have to lie you in your crib and you will only cry for a few minutes before going to sleep. You take two naps now, usually at 9:30ish and 1:30ish, and then you go to bed around 8:30 and sleep until about 6:00.
  • When you turned 6 months, we finally let you try peas. Your brothers were so thrilled, and counted down the days, until you could eat real food. You gave the cutest sour faces at first, but now you go at those peas, gobbling them down...I've never seen a baby go for peas quite so excitedly before!
We are so blessed to have you in our family! This past 6 months have been so wonderful and we can't wait to see you grow over the next 6 months.
Just born, 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 4 months, 5 months, 6 months, 7 months, 8 months, 9 months, 10 months, 11 months, 12 months.
