Halloween 2020

Like everything else since March of this year, Halloween was quite different for us. We told the kids several weeks before-hand that because of Covid, we would not be trick-or treating.

They all still wanted to dress up and we told them they could each pick a Halloween decoration. Kimball chose a human skeleton, Cameron a dog skeleton, Lily a cat skeleton, and Becca a lizard. Kimball also convinced me to get Dale a fish skeleton. The girls loved their skeletons and did everything with them for several days! They would sleep with them, cover them up with blankets, feed them some of their cereal, and more. It was super cute and somewhat macabre. :)

I had found inflatable T-Rex costumes for $15 so I got one for Kimball and those are hilarious! They are surprisingly fun to wear.

We also stopped by a local thrift store and let the younger 3 pick out costumes. Cameron and Lily got Power Ranger suits and Becca chose a Rapunzel dress.

The day before Halloween we drove up to Clinton, OK. We stopped at the Stafford Air & Space Museum in Weatherford, OK on the way and saw some amazing replicas and real artifacts from General Stafford's space explorations. The Ferrells joined us for our fun weekend!

After that, we got some dinner and ate at a park close by. This park had the most evil see-saws ever! Sorry Kimball...

We stayed at a hotel in Clinton, OK that night and the boys went swimming. We watched the season 2 premier of The Mandalorian and got very little sleep. Our family is too big for a 2 bed hotel room anymore!

The next morning we had a disappointing breakfast of biscuits and gravy since the hotel couldn't serve their usual meal thanks to Covid. Then we packed up and went to the Water Zoo. The kids had all earned several coupons for free child admission through the summer reading program so we gave some to the Ferrells as well.

We spent HOURS swimming, going down slides, floating the lazy river...then we took a pizza break...and swam some more!

Some of the kids got featured on Water Zoo's Facebook page!

Then it was time to drive home. When we got home we had a simple Halloween dinner of mummy dogs, ghost bananas and meal-worms with cheese.

OU was playing that night, so while they played, we sent all the kids to the girls' bedroom and hid candy throughout the living room, kitchen and library. At half-time we turned out all the lights, handed kids flashlights and let them hunt for candy in phases according to age. They probably got less candy than they would have trick-or-treating (and less variety since we all accidentally bought the same bags of candy), but it was so fun to watch them run around and hunt for candy.

Happy Halloween!
