Of course, Halloween was all the kids talked about for the entire month of October. As always, costume requests were changed constantly but they all finally settled on their costumes.
We started the month off watching General Conference. Kimball had a band contest and missed the Saturday sessions. He dressed as a band kid (wearing Aunt Hannah's marching band uniform from almost 10 years ago). He also dressed up as a t-rex.
We all went to cheer Kimball and the Ada band on that evening for their finals performance in Tigerpalooza.
Judy got to attend a regional church training. Elder Rasband (of the quorum of the twelve) was the presiding leader there. She and Dale dressed up as t-rexes for the church trunk-or-treat. Judy's chili won "most interesting" there.
Becca wants to be a scientist when she grows up. She wore Lily's dragon costume from last year. She got to be the Cougar Cub at school, and Dale and Judy got to see her receive her award.
Cameron insists "Lego is a better investment than stocks. It's true, I read a study about it." He was Jack Sparrow from "Pirates of the Carribean". When anyone said "look it's Jack Sparrow" while trick-or-treating, he was quick to correct them and say "that's Captain Jack Sparrow!"
Lily dressed up as a koala. We found a cute hoodie that had a zipper pouch above the normal hoodie pouch where she could carry her baby koalas. We learned that koala pouches are actually upside-down from what everyone thinks they are.
For fall break, we went down to Dallas. We took the boys to iFly (indoor skydiving). Lily and Becca were our photographers.Dale took the boys to do baptisms at the temple, and the girls went to Target while we waited.
We stayed at a hotel that night and the next day Judy took the kids to LegoLand Discovery Center while Dale worked on some cases in the chairs just outside.
We headed home that night, and got back into the swing of school/work that next Monday.
Halloween was on a Monday which feels cruel to any parent that night, and any teacher the next day. The kids got plenty of candy, and Dale enjoyed scaring young children with our inflatable t-rex costume.
