I won!

The owners of our complex held a Christmas poem contest and I won 3rd place! My super special prize was a poinsettia. Anyhow, here's the poem:

Simple Pleasures
I never knew the joys that I might
Have until my boys squealed with delight
At the Christmas tree with lights all aglow,
And pictures of fluffy white, fresh-fallen snow.
The stress of the season has weighed on us all
With thoughts of what gifts to buy, and on which friends to call,
But two little boys help me keep it all straight,
As they bring me to frequently contemplate
The reason for this season we so dearly love,
The birth of our Savior, a gift from above.
To feel my baby’s warm breath on my neck
Will help to keep all of my worries in check.
Just watching my toddler’s innocent smile
Reminds me that all of this effort’s worthwhile.
I hope that we all will be sure to take measure
To find in this season each simple pleasure.
