Aargh!

Cameron is one snuggly little boy which I love, love, love!
But...it's causing tons of problems at night. He falls asleep initially when I lay him down in his crib, but often wakes up 2 hours later and commences to wake up regularly throughout the night. He isn't hungry. As soon as I pick him up, he nuzzles into me and falls right back to sleep, at least until I lay him down again. I've tried letting him cry it out, which is supposed to help him sleep longer since he put himself to sleep in his crib, but there's no change. He still wakes up an hour or two later.
Nap times are a similar story where he only sleeps for 1/2 an hour if he's in his crib, and can't cry himself to sleep. He easily cries for over 1/2 an hour, like right now, and he's still going strong.
Any suggestions? I love snuggling with him but I'm pretty sure it will only get worse if the current situation continues and as he becomes more stubborn with age. It's so hard listening to him scream!

The short term solution is a swing. My first and third would not stay/fall asleep unless they were buckled into a baby swing.
Long term (this is a heart-breaker) as soon as they are six months, you can let them cry themselves back to sleep or you will just go crazy. Here's how we did it and it worked GREAT! You go in after 10 minutes of crying and reassure them that you haven't left the country, you're just in the other room "It's okay, I'm still here, but it's nap time now". Then you leave and come back in 15 minutes and repeat. The first day took 2 hours and it will break your heart, but by day three, they were always asleep or content within the first 10 minutes. Good luck!

Have you thought of letting him sleep with Kimball? Some kids just like to cuddle. Maybe he needs a big lovey, like a soft stuffed animal he can cuddle.

Sounds EXACTLY like Taylor until he was about 14 months old. (2 months ago...) Even when I didn't nurse him at all in the night he still woke up every couple of hours and would go back to sleep just fine if I cuddled him, but not in his bed...plus he did the 30 minute naps too - Aaaagh. We tried EVERYTHING. Nothing worked. All of a sudden he just started sleeping just fine on his own. However - it was a LONG tiring 14 months. I have no idea how to solve it. But let me know if you figure out something that works :)

Good luck with that! I guess it is the curse of having some of the best milk around. No, I'm not a bit jealous. My only thought would be to give him more solids right before bed and hope that it kept his tummy full a little longer....but since you said that he wasn't hungry, that probably won't work. Wow, I really miss having you all around...Sundays are just not the same anymore.
